Way of the Cross Trail | | Print | |
The Way of the Cross trail added another place where our guests can come and enjoy the peace of their Lord. This project is a testament of Jesus' journey that saves us from our sins. It provides faithful travelers a strengthening of faith and gives homage to Jesus for His passion and death suffered for us. The trail is 650 yards long - the estimated distance distance that Jesus carried the cross. The statue at the beginning of the trail is Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane and was blessed by Archbishop Emeritus Edlen F. Curtiss on March 28, 2013. Along with a cross, a bench and kneeler is at each station. The fourteenth station of Jesus's tomb is nestled in the trees at the end of the trail. A guide is available in the Visitor Center to take with you on the trail. In the future, permanent directional signage and prayer plaques will be installed.
Donations for this project can be sent to: Holy Family Shrine Attn: WOC PO Box 507 Gretna, NE 68028 Expect more details to be announced as the project moves forward.
